Former Aston Martin CIO invites peers to meet startups

April London event brings CIOs and disruptors together

RSA Insurance and energy firm RWE will share a platform with digital startups on April 19 to describe to CIOs and business technology leaders how they collaborate to deliver transformation. Amongst the speakers at the EntrepreneurCountry Global event in Central London, is former Aston Martin CIO Ilona Simpson.

“Chief Information Officers who are seeking a systematic and consistent way of engaging with fast-growing technology firms that can change existing operating models are invited,” Simpson told Horizon. The CIO said there will be a strong theme of how companies become platforms and benefit from becoming an ecosystem. “Large non-tech traditional incumbents whether they are banks, retailers, publishing firms, or in transportation will showcase how they have disrupted themselves,” Simpson said.

Challenger businesses speaking at the event include crowd funding platform Crowdcube, a Shoreditch financial services organisation, BlaBlaCar, a French car sharing platform that is growing internationally and has attracted analysis from the Economist; Nexium Customer Solutions a next generation customer analysis tool.

Traditional organisations joining RSA and RWE include Intel and BT.

Simpson, a former CIO with luxury car manufacturers Aston Martin and Porsche as well as a business technology leader with logistics firm DHL will be presenting at the event. Now the CIO in residence for organisers of The EntrepreneurCountry Forum Ariadne Capital, Simpson is a keen advocate of helping CIOs build bridges into the disruptive businesses challenging organisations.

Ariadne Capital is a venture capital and advisory firm. It has supported a number of now household name disruptors including Skype, lastminute.com, Monitise and BeatThatQuote.

CIOs are invited to attend. Registration is at: http://www.entrepreneurcountryglobal.com/entrepreneurcountry-forum
