CTO Francesco de Marchis is using grid computing to increase the digital services and extend the value of legacy technology at Jac Travel. De Marches will describe to CTO and CIO peers at the second Innovation Leadership Summit, curated and hosted by CIO community Editor and Horizon Business Innovation podcast host Mark Chillingworth, how grid computing has enabled an increase in pace and services whilst keeping transformation costs sensible.
The CTO joined Jac Travel in early 2017 having done an interim placement with the North London headquartered agency. Prior to joining Jac Travel de Marchis led a major transformation at Sussex based Low Cost Travel before the business went into administration as a result of the Conservative party referendum on leaving the European Union.
De Marchis will tell peers at the September 13, 2017 event how grid computing is improving data flows between customers of Jac Travel and the organisation’s information assets. The CTO and scout leader will describe how grid computing and the use of near-shore skills as well as the team at Jac Travel has reduced the time of a major transformation project and enabled the organisation to offer the very latest digital services to its customer base without the need for a costly rip and replace programme of foundation technology.
Jac Travel is a business-to-business tourism supplier providing the travel agency and in-bound travel industry with one of the most comprehensive accommodation inventory management services, managing over 12,000 hotels. The business is one of the UK’s major preferred suppliers to the group travel sector. Like many organisations Jac Travel has focused on an API based strategy in recent years.
De Marchis joined Low Cost Travel in Sussex in 2015 and led a major transformation of the organisation. Using hackathons and bleeding edge technology the organisation placed technology at its heart as it realised its challenge was from pure online agencies like Kayak, part of the Priceline group of businesses.
The Innovation Leadership Summit is in its second year and is curated and hosted by CIO community editor Mark Chillingworth who says the event is a forum for bringing innovation leaders together that helps CIOs move into a position of innovation enablement in their organisations. In its first year the Innovation Leadership Summit became the largest gathering of CIOs in the UK.
The 2017 Innovation Leadership Summit will take place on September 13, 2017 at Kings Place, Kings Cross, London. The venue, facing Google’s new UK home, will host CIOs from financial and professional services, the NHS, industry, charity, media and energy. The event is a full day conference in half a day, giving CIOs their afternoon back to keep on top of their demanding roles.
To attend the 2017 Innovation Leadership Summit, register for a ticket here. Attendance is strictly for CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, IT Directors and innovation leaders.
