Brussels Airline CIO Simon Lamkin will be giving a keynote presentation at the second Horizon CIO podcast roundtable debate on April 24, 2018 at Balthazar, Covent Garden, London.
Lamkin became CIO of Brussels Airlines in the Belgian capital in April 2016 following a 12 year career with Europe’s largest airline, easyJet.
Lamkin will provide peers an insight into how digital services are changing the airline sector. He will discuss changing business processes, how code is both enabling and preventing change in the sector. The role of data and databases and how as a CIO he and his team are working towards delivering a globally consistent change environment and creating a digital core.
Simon Lamkin joined easyJet in 2004 as Commercial Systems Manager, which led to a role as Airport Systems Manager then Head of IT before his current role as CIO for Brussels Airlines. Lamkin says in his current role at Brussels Airlines he is trying to introduce some of the easyJet “magic” into the European business.
Lamkin spoke on the Horizon CIO podcast last year along with former easyJet CIO peers Andy Caddy, Colin Rees and Mike Sturrock on their careers with the famous orange airline. “Back in 2004 easyJet was working in an agile way to continually grow and how it made iterative changes and moved forwards and onto the next area needing refinement, “professionalise and move on; and that is where we all came in and it was not about the next big thing like an ERP system and it was about keep pushing the products,” Lamkin told the CIO podcast, which you can download here.
Horizon CIO podcast roundtable dinner debates are produced and moderated by the host and editor of the Horizon CIO podcast Mark Chillingworth. For the last decade Chillingworth has been the editor for the CIO community in the UK. The Horizon CIO podcast is the UK’s first podcast for the community and since 2016 has been broadcasting debates with the UK’s leading CIOs in FTSE companies and major public sector organisations.
Horizon CIO podcast roundtable dinner debates bring innovation leaders together, each event is a partnership with a challenger technology service provider that CIOs may find gives them competitive advantage.
