Dr Zafar Chaudry, who resigned as CIO at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS trust last week has been revealed as CIO and SVP at the Seattle Children’s hospital.
In a newswire statement Seattle Children’s said Chaudry will lead the Information Service and “will provide vision and leadership for the development of technology initiatives and services; direct the planning and implementation of enterprise-wide information technology systems; and define standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software and interconnection of health care network information systems.”

“I look forward to guiding the development of key information technology systems necessary to support the organisation and its staff in providing the highest quality of care and research to the patients and families who we serve,” Chaudry said.
Chaudry has been with Cambridge University Hospitals since September 2015, the trust includes Addenbrookes Hospital. During his tenure as CIO Epic electronic medical records system has been implemented. Only last month Chaudry announced that Cambridge University Hospitals was adopting Microsoft Office 365 for Business and would be the largest healthcare adoption of Office 365 in the UK. Stephen Docherty told CIO peers on a Horizon podcast about the implementation of Office 365 at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. The Addenbrookes hospital exited special measures earlier this year when the Care Quality Commission rated its care as good.
Chaudry joined Cambridge University Hospitals from technology analyst house Gartner where he spent three years as a healthcare research director. Prior to his stint vendor side with Gartner Chaudry had been CIO with the Liverpool Women’s and Alder Children’s NHS Trust which he moved to from the Liverpool Women’s Hospital. This will be Chaudry’s second career stint in the US having been CIO with PDAdoc an informatics company.
Seattle Children’s serves as the pediatric and adolescent academic medical center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho – the largest region of any children’s hospital in the USA.
