Dave Ubachs, who was CIO for fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) giants Procter & Gamble (P&G) in the UK and Northern Europe has joined Edenred, a former division of hotels business Accor.
Ubachs joins the French business as Executive Vice President, Digital and IT and will be a member of the organisation’s executive board. “His vast expertise in data analytics and platform convergence, and his ability to work in fast-growing international environments, will be of huge value to our Group as we step up our digital transformation,” said Bertrand Dumazy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Edenred in a statement.
At P&G in the UK between 2010 and 2012 Ubachs was instrumental in the development of data war rooms and the hiring of data scientists before it became a defacto trend for business technology leaders. Ubachs demonstrated to the editor of the Horizon CIO podcast how data scientists and cross-functional teams identified trends, challenges and opportunities across Europe’s highly competitive and low margin fast moving consumer goods retail sector.
Ubachs began his career in 1995 at Procter & Gamble, where he held various management positions in the fields of digital and information technology in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Venezuela, Brazil and the United Kingdom. In these roles Ubachs spearheaded several major transformation projects aimed at harmonizing information systems and processes and harnessing data for value creation. Ubachs went into pure retail in 2012 becoming CIO of office supplies chain Staples Solutions in 2013, where he led the IT integration of 31 European subsidiaries and transformed the group’s main e-commerce platform.
Edenred split from Accor in June 2010 and focuses on employee benefit, fleet, mobility and corporate payment services.
