UK headquartered golfing leaders European Tour has appointed Patricio Colombo as its CIO. Colombo joined the organisation last week.
European Tour operate three professional golf tours from its Wentworth headquarters in Surrey. European Tour was founded by the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) in the UK and became an independent organisation in 1984. Although bearing a European moniker, the organisation has become global in recent years. European Tour is closely involved in the Ryder Cup Europe.
European Tour told Horizon that Colombo will “oversee the portfolio of technology investments at the European Tour, helping to deliver desired business outcomes in a consistent manner”.
Colombo joins European Tour from Jamie Oliver Limited, the catering, media and hospitality business of the famed chef Jamie Oliver where he was CIO from July 2008 to January of this year.
At London based Jamie Oliver Colombo successfully delivered a programme of technology investments during a period of rapid expansion and diversification of the business into media, events and retail. During his tenure in the Shoreditch food business Colombo adopted Google Apps for the majority of the business.
In a statement to Horizon Business Innovation Jo Fletcher, the European Tour’s Chief Financial Officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Patricio to the European Tour. He will bring a wealth of experience to enhance our technology operation, working alongside our existing team, as our business continues to grow in this important area.”
Before joining Jamie Oliver Colombo led IT at Hello Magazine and has experience in software development and consulting. Colombo is a qualified pilot and keen motorcyclist.
