Former Low Cost Travel Group and play.com CTO Francesco de Marchis has joined the board of business-to-business travel supplier Jac Travel as its CTO. As CTO de Marchis will report to the CEO Terry Williamson.
This is de Marchis’ third travel ticket, having led technology at Orbitz and most recently Low Cost Travel.
In a statement CEO Williamson said: “We felt it was time to have a dedicated leader within the Board to help deliver our next generation platform and implement the strategy needed to crate market leading technology environments.” The CEO went on to add that the organisation has global ambitions and to achieve this it will need a technology strategy that is flexible and able to meet the tailored needs of customers.
Francesco de Marchis said Jac Travel has “a service-oriented culture and strong financial backing and I have every confidence it will achieve great things”.
At Low Cost Travel, the Gatwick based organisation brought down by Brexit in 2016, de Marchis re-platformed the organisation rapidly with the use of next generation database technology and a focus on algorithms. As CTO de Marchis had teams in the UK and Poland and adopted hackathons to introduce new ideas and encourage talent to join the organisation.
London based Jac Travel supplies the travel and tourism industry with hotel accommodation as well as inbound travel for the UK and Ireland. It is best known in the industry for its inventory of 12,000 hotels, which enables it to be a preferred supplier to the group travel tour sector. In recent years its API strategy has enabled it to become a technology leader in the sector.
