Insurance giant RSA has appointed a new Group CTO with the announcement that experienced financial services technologist David Germain (pictured left) is joining the organisation that is headquartered in the walkie talkie building in London.
Germain, who joins after just under three years at Deutsche Bank, will report to CIO Darren Price. In a statement RSA said Germain will be responsible for the implementation of the RSA technology strategy and supporting the general insurance providers transformation programme.
“Germain will also develop the group architecture function to anticipate and react to major shifts and developments in technology, driving business efficiency and innovation through smart IT investments,” RSA said in a statement.
During his technology leadership career Germain has worked in both technology and operational leadership roles as a CIO and COO. At Deutsche Bank he was interim COO for the german bank’s listed derivatives unit having been COO of merchant bankers Close Brothers for two years from 2011 to 2013.
Germain was CIO for GE, the US conglomerate that manufactures medical, electrical and industrial machinery and has a significant financial services organisation. Prior to joining GE Germain led projects for asset clearing house LCH Clearnet.
Darren Price, group chief information officer, RSA, said in a statement: “I’m delighted to welcome David to RSA. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise that will make him a real asset to the team.” Like Germain Price, a veteran of RSA has held both CIO and COO roles during his financial services career.
Germain said in a statement: “I am pleased to be asked to lead the RSA global technology strategy, which is integral to the wide scale digital transformation programme. I look forward to working with colleagues, partners and customers”.
