Omni-channel gaming firm bets on Kevin O’Connor
South African Kevin O’Connor, has joined gaming firm William Hill as Group CIO it has been announced. Until February 2015 O’Connor was CIO at corporate travel firm Carlson Wagonlit and recently spent four months as CTO with S&P Capital IQ.
O’Connor will be working alongside Finbarr Joy CTO of William Hill, who is well known in the business technology leadership community for his innovative leadership that has seen the organisation create a development centre in Shoreditch London. Joy has also been instrumental in working with his leadership peers to develop a membership and loyalty programme that has increased customer loyalty in the highly competitive gaming industry. Another innovation Joy introduced to William Hill was using Fluxx, a thinking consultancy that enables organisations to realise brave ideas and empower its staff to offer solutions to business problems.
O’Connor has also had leadership roles at NYSE Euronext the financial trading organisation and spent nine months at gaming rivals Paddy Power.
The announcement was made as part of the trading statement for 2015 at William Hill. The organisation said it had carried a review of its Online business and MD of Online Andrew Lee is leaving to be replaced by Crispin Nieboer, who leads the Shoreditch innovation team. O’Conner will report to CEO James Henderson and act as Group CIO.
