Consumer insurance leader LV= has promoted John Chasty within the organisation to CIO following the move of former CIO Richard Warner up to the role of COO.
In a statement the Bournemouth headquartered business said Chasty will be responsible for the leadership and direction of IT Strategy, Change Delivery and Operations and will report directly to Richard Warner, Chief Operating Officer..
Chasty has been with LV= since 2011 and was most recently CIO Operations Director where he was responsible for IT Operations, Group Procurement and Facilities Management.
Warner said: “Technology continues to change rapidly and now more than ever it’s important that we have the right IT strategy in place to ensure we’re delivering the best results for both our business and customers. Our aim is to be a digital first company, ensuring that digital platforms are fully integrated with our services, improving the overall efficiency of our services and making our systems easier to run and manage, and I’m confident that John will help us achieve this.”
In a statement Chasty added: “From big data to cyber security, cloud infrastructure, the Internet of Things and everything in between, technology is having a significant impact on the insurance industry and our customers. There’s a real opportunity for us to embrace some of the latest technologies, such as robotics and artificial Intelligence, to enhance the overall experience for our customers and employees.”
In November 2016 LV= recruited Jonathan Mansley as Head of Digital Strategy and Proposition. Mansley joined LV= from market rivals Aviva where he had led a number of digital roles since 2007 and had previously been with bankers MBNA in a marketing role.
Warner stepped up to COO in February of this year having been CIO of south coast based car and household insurance provider since January 2011.
“The role been broad for a while, I picked up human resources (HR) last year,” Warner tells Horizon of how he has been moving towards an operations role. “I have technology, supply chain, property, HR and strategy support, so it is a broad church of activity.”
